What’s the biggest room in the world? Room for improvement! And the door is always open…

Even when a site is already scoring well in performance tests it’s still worth checking for any enhancements that could be made. This is especially true if you’re frequently updating plugins and adding new functionality to your website.

In the example shown here there were a few extra requests being made to the server that weren’t necessary on the home page. By removing them we were able to increase the performance rating from 97% to 99%, and the load time was boosted by around 300ms. That may not seem like a huge improvement but, every little helps! For example – if your site is getting 1,000 hits a day, 300ms can be interpreted as 5 minutes, which is massive when we’re talking about website load times.
